Following Bianca ‘Bam Bam’ Elmir’s recent loss to Commonwealth Games gold medallist, Shelley Watts at the Australian National Championships in the 60kg weight division, Bam Bam has elected to renominate in a non-Olympic weight category of 54kg in order to compete at the 2016 World Amateur Boxing Championships in Kazakhstan. ‘Bam Bam’ aims to be he first Australian ever to win an Amateur Boxing Title. She states that this is a more comfortable weight division for her, and is confident that she will do well on this trajectory. We will be continuing to follow Bianca as she prepares for this, travelling with her to Bulgaria in February where she will be competing in the oldest European International Amateur boxing competition, The Stradja Cup, as a pre-qualifying event for the World Championships.
